As Part of Ethiopia’s National Reconciliation, Artist/Activist Tamagne Beyene Returns Home from 20 Plus Years Exile in the US

In addition to Tamagne Beyene, other journalists, who have been critical of the current government such as Fiseha Tegegn and Kassahun Yilma have also returned to Ethiopia  from the UK and the US today as part of the national reconciliation effort led by the new Ethiopian PM Abiy Ahmed.

New legislation and invitations by the PM guaranteed that exiled Ethiopian dissidents are welcome to Ethiopia and that they wouldn’t be impeached or implicated. Blanket amnesty was also given to charged and sentenced Ethiopian journalists, politicians and activists last July 2018.

In few days, scores of exiled Ethiopian opposition forces and dissidents are anaticipated to arrive in Addis Abeba from various corners of the world.
