Violent Protest Reported in Weliso Town, Ethiopia



Nearly nine months into Ethiopia’s State of Emergency, violent protests have been reported in Woliso town, Oromia Region of Ethiopia today. According to netizens, protesters have attacked vehicles in the town. Last week similar protests were held in Ambo town opposing the government’s new tax levies that many said was miscalculated and more than ” what they could afford to pay.”

Weliso is located in the South West Shewa Zone of the Oromia Region, 114 km southwest of Addis Ababa.
