The Addis Abeba based business weekly, Addis Fortune, has reported today that the demand for the 600 pages popular love story book Fiker Eske Mekaber (Love onto death) has spiked leading to the publication of 10,000 new copies due to the song by Teddy Afro, which narrates the book.
The fifth album by Teddy titled “Ethiopia” was only released two weeks ago.
The novel book was published in the 1960s. Teddy Afro’s Mar Eske Tuaf song narrates the gist of the book in four minutes.
According to Fortune, Mega Publishing has now said due to the spike in the sale of the book, it has published new copies and distributed them in 32 outlets.
The retail price of the book has also spiked to 100 birr in two weeks. It used to be sold between 80 to 90 birr.
