The number of people killed due to garbage landslide in Addis Abeba has reached 113, the Addis Abeba City Administration has said today. It is mind-boggling to even imagine people dying in such a manner in this day and age.
In the meantime, watching the interviews held with the victims and survivors of the garbage-slide, one could observe that the majority of the victims hail from one region, Amhara. Why are these people the majority victims? Does it mean they are the largest number of the people living near the garbage pile?
And as the state media are reporting, if the pile has been there for the past 50 years, what caused the accident today?
So many an unanswered questions.
