Tariku Desalegn, the brother of jailed Ethiopian journalist Temesgen Desalegn, on a latest FB post has said that his families were unable to find him in any Federal prison in Ethiopia. He was jailed in Zeway Prison, South of Addis Abeba, for the past two years.
We were in Zeway Prison since December 6, 2016 to visit Temesgen but we were told to leave the premises by the prison officials, who said Temesgen was not there. Although we went to Kaliti and Kilinto prisons in Addis Abeba, we were also told that he was not there. It is now two days since we have not been able to locate Temesgen. We ask the government to tell us where they have kept Temesgen or what they have done to him.
Temesghen Desalegn, owner of the now-defunct newspaper Feteh (Justice) and several other newspapers, is serving a three-year term in Ziway Prison on charges of defamation, incitement, and false publication in connection with a series of opinion pieces he wrote in Feteh in 2012.
