Historic Ethiopian Stamp: Empress Tayetu by Afewerq Tekle 1964. Taytu Betul 1851 – 1918was an Ethiopian Empress (1889–1913) and the third wife of Emperor Menelek II of Ethiopia. Remembered for founding Ethiopia’s Capital Addis Abeba and her extraordinary during the battle of Adwa, when Ethiopia defeated Italy, which attempted to colonize Ethiopia in 1896.
