U.S Establishes New Crewmember Visa for Ethiopians

Addis Ababa Nov 18/2014 The United State Ambassador to Ethiopia, Patricia M. Haslach, announced the establishment of a new crewmember visa for Ethiopians in order to facilitate travel to and from the US for shipping vessel crewmembers.

She made the remark today at the Ethiopian Maritime Training Institute (EMTI) in Bahir Dar.

According to a press release the Embassy of the United State sent to ENA, Ambassador Haslach said Ethiopia is a surprisingly good place for a maritime training program.

With a growing cadre of strong English speakers with solid technical skills, Ethiopia has the potential to export considerable maritime talent, generating incomes that benefit families and the entire communities, the ambassador added.

EMTI, working in cooperation with Bahir Dar University is creating professional opportunities for Ethiopian students in a field that offers very promising career opportunities, she further noted.
