Husband stabs wife over 20 times in Addis Abeba

The Addis Abeba based Tadias Addis Entertainment Radio Program on Sheger FM reported today that a husband in Addis Abeba has stabbed his wife of six years 27 times last week. The victim known as Maria Younis Mohammed, who works at a World Bank Project in a governmental office in Addis Abeba, told the Radio host that she had been separated from her husband over a year ago. Maria stated that her husband who is involved in business activities often felt “inferior” and had complex. 

“He called me to his office last Wednesday to collect cheques the he began giving out about me and how much i complicated his life.  He pulled out a gun and said he will kill me. Then he said ‘if you die you will have to die suffering’ and attempted to stab my eyes, as I fought to save my eyes he stabbed me 27 times on my body” she told the Radio from her hospital beds. She has now 13 stitches.  

Maria advised listeners that confidence and equality in marriage are essential and either of the partners should not be dominant.    

The Radio show hosts also mentioned that there is an immense increase in domestic violence. The suspect is now under police custody.
