Ethiopian Artist Tamrat Molla, who has been batteling blood cancer for the past few years, died today at 69 in Addis Ababa Ethiopia, sources indicated. His funeral will take place at Trinity Cathedral Chruch in Addis Ababa today. Born in Gondar, Tamerat is often categorised by his age and music genre within the ranks of veteran Ethiopian modern music singers such as Tilahun Gessese, Mahmoud Ahmed and Alemayehu Eshete. Although Tamerat has been following medical treatemnts in the U.S. and Addis Abeba,and was well after “undergoing baptism”, he died last night.Last year,Tamirat also had stated that he had been cured from blood cancer by Holy Water and he had fully recovered. He said he had asked his professor friend to bring to him Holy Water from Saint Mary Church in Ethiopia and upon taking the Holy Water, his recovery has been miraculous even to the surprise of his own Doctors in the United states. Tamrat started singing with the Army Band in Addis Abeba as a young man.
Tamirat is survived by his wife and five children.
